  1. Make ready 1/4 kg Flakes
  2. Get 1/4 kg jaggery
  3. Make ready 10 cashews
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp ghee
  5. Make ready 1 1/2 tsp pottukadalai
  6. Prepare 1 tsp cardamom powder
  7. Get Pinch edible camphor

I prepared peanut sundal and aval kesari for today's puja. We were looking for a different sweet other than the usual kesari or payasam when my hubby suggested this. Conventionally, we make kesari using Semolina. But we can make with Aval, Semiya, Samba Wheat and other millets.

Steps to make Flakes Kesari Aval:
  1. Wash the Flakes in water and soak for 10 minutes. In a vessel add 1/4kg jaggery and pour water till jaggery dissolves. After filtering the jaggery pour it in pan, heat it well. After heating, add cardamom powder, pinch of edible camphor, 1 and 1/2tbsp pottukadalai and mix it well.
  2. Now filter the soaked flakes in the pan. Cook in low fame. Roast 10 cashews with 1 tbsp ghee in a separate kadai. And then add it in the flakes mixture. Stir it well for 5 minutes till it comes to pasty consistency and switch off the flame.
  3. Now our Super traditional Flakes Kesari is Ready to serve.

Conventionally, we make kesari using Semolina. But we can make with Aval, Semiya, Samba Wheat and other millets. This Aval kesari is one of the dish which I used to make during festivals especially for Gokhulashtami. Add powdered rice flakes to the water and simultaneously stir to avoid lumps (do this in medium flame) and cook till the water is absorbed. Add sugar and stir well till it melts.
